Hi guys
My computer suffers badly from a bottleneck: I've got an ATI x1950 matched up with an amd 64 3000, and 1GB of ram. I don't have much to spend (studying ftw) but I would appreciate it if I would be able to play games at more than 45 fps, regardless of what settings I have.
So, I'm going to shell out what I can on some new hardware. The best I can do is an intel c2d 4300, two GB's of ram, and an appropriate motherboard. I'm just wondering if the 4300 will make a big difference compared to my current athlon 3000. I will overclock it, and maybe invest in some aftermarket cooling, but I'm not exactly expecting 3GHZ+ clock speeds. What kind of performance should I expect on my would-be future set up (to recap, that's an x1950, c2d 4300, and 2GB's of ram) compared to what I have now?
Thanks,
-Lucien
