okie......i am trying to put vista ultimate on a previous hd that had vista on....

even though i can format this partition ntfs as needed vista will not install saying no suitable device found....its obviously there i can see it.. even tried diskpart and did the clean option...but still no go.......in fact i have 2 hds the one im trying is sata the other dats slave is ide vista will not look at any partition so i am a bit stumped as to how th get hd to accept the install/or vista to accept install any help appreciated tia

Register or log in to remove.

Delete and recreate the primary partition.

 

If you cannot do that get a diagnostic HDD utility disk creator download from your HDDs website, and use the utility to do a drive wipe, or zero fill.

 

That removes all previous data including old boot records.
