Hi all, it's upgrade time time and I could really use some advice...

I admitt I am not too clued up on graphics cards nowadays. I want to get get the best card for my system without having to replace the motherboard.

ASUS P4P800 Motherboard
Intel P4 3.4Ghz Socket 478 Processor
2.5GB DDR PC3200 RAM
21" TFT

I'm not too concerned about having HDTV capability, just want to get the best gaming set up I can, at a reasonable cost!

Thanks in advance.

The best card you can get for your system seems to be the ATI 1950XT, the pro version would do as well.

The problem with those cards is that you might need to change your PSU, which one do you have?

At a more affordable level you've got your 7600GT and 1650XT which are good and need less power.

Thanks for your replies.

uri, my PSU is a LC-B400 ATX.

Would that be powerful enough? I really don't want to got to the expense of changing that too. :(

Looks like the best you can do with your current PSU is a 7600GT. The 17amps on your 12V rail are barely enough for the 7600GT, and probably wouldn't be enough for the comparable ATI solution the X1650XT.

the op could always get a new PSU. A good choice would be the FSP AX450 for $58. Might have an issue though with the mobo connector for older mobos. Look into that
