Just finished my new build and I loaded up Vista Ultimate x64 and installed all the updates. SP1 didn't show up on the updates. I then read the Microsoft Knowledge Base article about the problem, and tried the solutions they suggested. No go. Now, I have downloaded the SP1 x64 Standalone, but before I install, I just want to make sure it won't mess anything up. I read a bunch of articles, but they were from when SP1 was first RTM, so am hoping for a little newer advice, that if its not showing up, even after doing the "fixes" then you shouldn't update, what do you guys think?

It should be fine. There may be another patch that needs to be loaded first and that is why it doesnt show up.
The stand alone will have any patches required and will install them first if needed.
