I think that this was a previously determined price slash. I'm still betting my gf's virginity (hahaha) that you won't see K10 shipping in any sort of volume whatsoever in CY2007.

So Intel is AMD then? Either that or they have spys within AMD telling them all the details. Why would Intel know any more about AMD's product than us? They don't need to.
Cut prices and AMD is hurt. Simple as that. AMD can't ship the same volume as Intel so Intel can't lose.

I don't trust Digitimes. They are so much pro-Intel biased.

A new 3Ghz Clovertown takes the top price point, the others simply drop down a notch. I'm more impressed with the desktop pricing. $266 for a Q6600 or E6800 is niiiiice! :D

I agree - Intel is NOT slasj=hing prices, it's business as usual.

Mind you, a year ago when an D950 dropped when the D960 came out, nobody cared, as it was only a 7% faster hot slow dog.

This is how Intel prices...

Quarter "X" X + 1 X + 2

Part X +2 $999
Part X +1 $999 $525
Part X $999 $525 $316
Part X -1 $525 $316 $216
Part X -2 $316 $216 $186
Part X -3 $216 $186 $186

The current price cuts are no different than the typical pattern.

A slash in sever price by Intel probably has little to do with Barcelona releasing soon but more of a let's make AMD have to bleed just to sell them when they finally do.

Intel has confirmed a new stepping of the quad core 4 x 3.0 ghz, the new stepping is alot cooler and should allow semi-volume shipments.

The OEMs also have gotten a dual core 3.2 ghz part on a 1600 FSB
