I dont get it, I want to hook my xbox up to my Vista Home Premium, but the media center gets stuck on "searching for extender". I dont know what to do, especially since tversity works! ( media center has a cooler interface) What should I try to do to fix it. (using netgear wgt624 v3 wired connection)
Alright, I built a virtual machine using vmware workstation (most recent one). I installed my vista disc (not retail...) and setup media center to work with the xbox.
YAY I can stream lord of the rings .mpg to the xbox!
WHAT ISNT working however, is the media center itself. The Play dvd icon, or the dvd library icons are nowhere to be found. I tried using menu manager which did nothing, did all of the regedits that did nothing. (Note, dvdsettings showgallery was present, so I put it on Gallery, but when I went to search for HideDVD in HKEY local user machine, it didnt exist--so I created it.) But still, nothing happened. I am clueless. Please help. Please. Help. I want to use dvd library for xbox!

I have had Media Center (including Media Player which I was trying to access) stop working on two Vista installations. I used system restore the first time to get it back working. The second time I was not able to get it working and had to do a reinstallation of the Vista 64 OS. Each time running an untested version of a Registry cleaner caused the problem. I verified the problem with the software vendor support.
I use cc cleaner currently on many Vista systems and have no problem. There is no stand alone download for Media Center in Vista, so your options are to try a system restore to a point the Media Center worked properly. Or do a reinstall or repair install of the OS. A corrupt registry is what hosed my Media Player installation.
