I recently built a new computer (probably my 5th computer overall) with the help of the new system forum, and have attempted to install vista oem (not a burned .iso) countless times now over the past few days. The first number of times when booting straight to disk, it "loads" the files in a couple seconds--as opposed to the necessary minutes...but then gives a corrupt file/installer error...error code: 0x80070017.

Have tried it on three different hds.
Tried with 2gigs of ram, and 4 gigs of ram installed.
Quick formatting partitions as well as the slower format.
Different dvd drives.
Tried installing out of xp64 but the autorun.dll is corrupt.
One time it loaded in xp64 but then failed with loading install files at 99%.
there are probably other things i have tried, but to be honest cannot remember them.

here are the specs of the computer:
gigabyte ep45-ud3p
Q6600
ASUS EAH4850 TOP/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850
Mushkin ram (PC2 6400)
Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA

here's an update....i got frustrated when my internet went out--while running xp64. decided to restart the computer. ran the vista install again. (no changes were made with the system from the past couple of restarts.) and vista installed. no idea why. the only thing i can think of is that i have a damaged dvd .
