I just have a question about the memory usage on my pc.
My pc is running Vista-64 bit Home Premium with 4 GB of ram. It is fairly new, less than 6 months.
There is this this nifty app on my vista sidebar that tells me how much ram my pc is using up. At first when I got this computer it stays at a constant 18%-20% memory usage, however lately its been going into the 60%'s even when my computer is idle.
I'm not a particularly tech saavy person, therefore I don't do a lot of changes to my pc, and am also afraid of deleting or stopping random services for fear of messing stuff up. So is there a way to see what is eating up all this memory, and to see if it is alright to stop/delete any of them.
Task manager will give you some ideas of what is using the most memory and as amdfangirl says it will help you decide what to turn off.
It also will tell you if your gadget is reporting correctly. Some dont.
Remember most of those are written by people like us.
With superfetch running it is very hard to say how much of that RAM is going to running code and how much of it is there for if and when a program runs.
Nearly half of my 8 gig is used up right now with only my web browser open (and quite a few bkg apps and gadets too). I'm going to assume it is superfetch up until the time I start seeing anything slow down. As it is everything seems very snappy indeed so I really think it's superfetch.
