i want to use the computer for my educational use, like word typing,
creating web pages, storing wedding pictures (really loads of them),
want to store them on dvd, i lalso use programming languages like, visual
basic, python etc to make programmes.

after searching sites on which motherboard and processor to go for i have come up with the following:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz
Gigabyte GA M59SLI-S4 AM2

is the motherboard compatable with the processor?

I would apreciate any comments or advice on this spec.

thanks,
Chris Maynard

save yourself some money (and power) and go with one of the 65W AMD processors. You wont notice the speed and with the money u save u can buy a cuisinart or something

I think thats a fine choice. The motherboard is compatible as also indicated by the AMD website:

Motherboard Tool

You will be very pleased with this decision. As you have a lot of photos, make sure you also get a large sized hard drive.
