Computer was going great for a year, then last night i decided to put it "to sleep" Start/shut down/ sleep. I never tried sleep before - thought it would save time on reboot in morning over shut down. boy was i wrong.

It now hangs at the WinXp load screen for about 3 mins then goes to black and i never hear the log in sound. Safe mode will not work. nothing happens.

What all could this be? What should i try?

mysteriously just booted into windows after like the 20th reboot. - I did a defragment of c:/ drive. It was 3% fragmented... then i restarted again - now it is hanging again... same....

Can i pull the disk out and Run System restore from a separate computer? Is that possible?

I think the problem was related to my Logitech keybord. The numlock key was pushed down and i didnt realize it. Setpoint.exe seems to mess with boot.
