I have a QX6700 and have just water cooled it. I want to overclock it but have very little experience doing it. I know that with the extreme edition you can change the multiplier and the speed of the cores is increased. The problem when i do that is that the system wont boot into windows. I will begin but it always crashes and it will just restart. I have been able to change the multiplier from 10 (2.66ghz) to 11 (2.96 ghz) succesfully but never any higher.

My System.

QX6700
Asus p5wdg2 ws pro
Swiftech h20-220
2gb Corsair ddr2-800
Nvidia 7950gt

Im not sure if i have to change timings on anything else or if my processor is just a lemon... Please let me know what you think?

Are you using stock vcore? What is your mem voltage and what are those DIMMs you have rated for 2.2V? What is your DRAM:CPU ratio? It should be 1:1 so @ 333 for the CPU the RAM should be 667.

9x333 should be no problem. Measure your temps with 2x orthos taking care to set cpu affinity of one of them to cores 0 and 1 and the other to cores 2 and 3 andRMClock. What are the temps after about 20 minutes of 2x orthos running as I described? Also, does it run without restarting? If it restarts you may need more vcore.
