Why ubuntu LTS does not ask for passwords

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and at start-up it does not asked for a password as usual, i think that with that the system allows me the administration permision is it?

It could be that when you installed Ubuntu, the "paswordless login" (do not remember the exact words) was check, you can always change that behavior in the login screen options. I do not think you have the administration permission once you are on your desktop.

For any administrator task it will (most likely) ask for the password, the same remains for a few seconds in the terminal (20 I think) then you have to retype it again.
