Why does my Firefox suck so bad??

No, Sir, you are not! I happen to have the same issue! Only one big, big drastic difference. I ain't using Wubi.
I have a shittiest firefox I could ever have imagined, it's Firefox 5 ver 11, brand new.. slow as ***, does those "fade outs" where it does nothing for 10 to 20 seconds and Ubuntu thinks it's dead.
I have a dual boot system with Windows but my Linux partition is Extended while Windows side is NTFS so I don't have that issue.

So.. the issue remains... why can't I use firefox like a REAL LINUX BOY? Supposedly Firefox was built upon Linux and open-source... so why does it work worst on Ubuntu?!

Firefox easily causes my computer to use 25% of it's total CPU capacity (that's 25%, roughly, for each core), while running power hungry things like Flash it puts my CPUs at their upper-levels, regularly running between 50-70% idle. That isn't normal I know that. Chrome doesn't do that even when I have 14 pages open all with non-playing flash apps.

So I would really like to see some real effort instead of a simply Wubi cop-out. I realize Wubi would be a shitty way to install (I installed Ubuntu 8 via CD a while back) but I can't imagine that has anything to do with me.

hmm well I do have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS just updated earlier. I want to pick on Flash for causing Firefox to "hang" or fade out like I said. In fact, that's the primary reason why I'm having issues is because flash apps don't want to work. Apparently Chrome is having an issue, too, where some websites (such as Adobe.com) falsely think Flash has been disabled (even though it hasn't been). I do have an old version on Chrome, however, that I keep disabled.

I don't know what you want to know for hardware. I have a, nVidia 9300m GS w/ 512MB, so it's perfect for media web browsing. I have the proprietary support drivers, too, updated as recent as they can be.


I've disabled ipv6 in firefox, I think I've noticed a slight performance increase VERY HELPFUL REGARDLESS.
A google search is all I did to figure out how to do that, it was on Mozilla's homepage.

But I feel there might be a communication issue somewhere..? Firefox has always been slower on my computer.

might anyone know how to put up my system specs? I've never done that.

My best recommendation for you is to backup your /home folder or any data you want to save and do a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. If you intend on using flash install that afterwards or use chrome instead. My laptop has a slower Core 2 duo than yours and I never experience the issue you described.
 
Clear your temporary internet files. For some reason older versions of FF seem to love eating disc and place LOTS of files in the cache. Cleaning them out on my brothers laptop took FF from crash ridden to working. Upgrading the browser does not clear the old files and moving in the old FF user directory from a backup of /home/username just caused the same issues on a fresh install.
