Wine crashing "invaild parameters"

fair warning I am a Complete noob with linux. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and I was going to run WINE to run some games/programs that my family uses WoW, LoL and Winamp are the ones I have atm. I am getting 2 errors right now when I run them when I try to launch Winamp I get a the error

"Interal error - Invalid parameters received"

When I run it from the command "env WINEPREFIX="/home/house/.wine" wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix /home/house/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/Winamp.lnk"

I get this terminal output I believe that is the correct command? 1st day using Linux sorry for the horrible information if there is any ideas or things I could try that would be great cause I am lost and have been looking for more then a couple hours now figured I would ask

I think that is a bug with that version of wine that is packaged for Ubuntu. You can try a newer version of wine by following the instructions here:

Had the exact same issue as you and no, updating to the latest Wine (1.5.6 as of this date) will not solve this issue.

Here is what will:

The conflict is not between, Winamp and Wine but between some of the plugins that come installed by default in Winamp.

If you navigate to /home/~your user name~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Winamp/Plugins and move the plugins to another folder, you'll see that Winamp starts. I'll be try to narrow it to which of the plugins is causing the conflict and I'll post it for you guys.

I do not know wether this will be of anyhelp but you may have to install vcrun2008 by useing winetricks. It seems that winamp needs msvcr90 which is there in vcrun2008.
