I have a Dell Dimension 5100 Pentium 4 Dual processor 2800Mhz,2 Gig DDR2-SDRAM,160 Gig Seagate hard drive. It came with XP Home SP2...upgraded to SP3 recently.
I will be using a 10G partition for any backups.
I currently use CCLEANER for my registry backups, but I need to do a complete system backup. After reading up on Seagates DISCWIZARD I downloaded a copy from their website. It has limited functions but does offer a complete computer image backup,(which is all I need anyway). I've installed Windows Ntbackup.exe, but Microsoft says XP Home doesn't support ASR function. I'm not sure if I'll be able to restore my backup using it's Restore Wizard. All I keep reading about it refers to ASR,so I dont know if the Restore Wizard will work.
What I'm after is this; using XP install cd, wipe out my C drive(where windows is), do a fresh install of windows, copy my backups from my backup partition to have my system and programs as they once were. I want to be able to do incremental backups as new programs and devices are installed and new system settings are made, removing the old backups as I go. Would you recommend DiscWizard or Ntbackup for this, (without having to acquire other programs to work with them). Which method would you recommend. Thanks
