i need to transfer a rar file to a laptop and its pretty big. i dont have a burner or external hdd. if i remember correctly my old microsoft router could transfer files and so could my actiontec... now i have a linksys router... also im open to any other alternative as long i dont need any special cables or new hardware that i dont have

Yes you can copy the file over. Make sure both computers are in the same work group, Right Ckick My Computer Properties, and then go to the Computer Name tab. Run the Wireless Network Wizard and allow File and Print Sharing. You can then connect to the other computer
