External har disk stack

I want external hard disk stack that can be connected to my Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop PC which have intel core2duo processor.

    Ubuntu will automatically recognize a USB external hard disk or thumbdrive. If it is already formatted as FAT32 or NTFS it will automatically be mounted when its connected.

    you can use the tool gparted to create and format partitions too. though its not installed by default you can install it easy on the command line with the command:

    sudo apt-get install gparted
  2. You can use any file format you want so long as it's supported in Linux the fact that it's connected via USB makes no difference other than speed.
