I hope this is in the correct category !

I wasnt to buy a READYNAS NV+ and its peformance can be boosted with Jumbo frames.

I need to find out whether my Dell dimenision 8400 (WindowsXP Pro) 3GB memory can handle jumbo frames.

My Network Adapter on the Dell is Broadband Nextreme 57xx Gigabit Controller.
I went to the Broadgband website who told me to go to Dell.

I found this link and it looks like my machine can handle it but I dont understand most of what is being said.

Here is the link: You can serach for Jumbo frames.

I read the review in the Small Net Builders site about the Ready Nas (previous version of the product) which was not super positive altho they seemed to have improved their product since. Any recommendations out there for NAS which needs minimal amount of backup ?

Thanks in advance !

I believe its more important with the network equipment (switch) than with your computer as all the workload falls on the switch to deal with the jumbo frames.

If your switch can handle it, you should be able to use it. I don't know why you would want to use it though unless you're doing large one way file transfers.
