when logging on at the welcome screen, the screen goes to "welcome" for a second or so and then to "logging off" and back to the welcome screen. This only happens on one of the four user accounts. Any way to correct this?

You should save the data for that account if it's important, e.g., Outlook Express files, etc. Then delete and recreate the account. You could also check what programs are in the user's startup folder and remove them (if any).

Sounds like Virus activity to me at first note.

You can check Task Scheduler and see if there's any scripts running for that account.
