Hey,

I bought an 805 D just before I lost my job so I never built a system, now I need a system but want to get a motherboard I'll be able to drop a quad in one day.

Anyone recommend a board?

Thanks!

The Asus P5B Deluxe is pretty nice with the D805 and will for sure run the Q6x00 series, just don't know how well it will overclock those.

as this will be for a high end HTPC which will not be OC'd, the msi neo-f p35 may be a good choice - anyone have one?

want to keep it low power anyway!

Thanks for the info!

Low power? No overclock?

So, you are running a 95 Watt TDP chip, at 2.66GHz, and having:

1. Lower performance than an e4300, or even an e2140

2. 30W more power used than an e6700 (65W)

3. Much worse power/performance ratio than ANY Core 2 Duo or Allendale based Pentium.

Why would you do that? :/ How can you say you care about heat/power then use a Pentium D?

you're right!

I was hoping to save cash on the processor but I guess I just needed someone to point that out to me.
