Hello all,

I am in the process of building my first computer. I am a college student and am currently taking some hardware + software classes.

This problem is occurring with the downloader that MSDN uses.

I was trying to download the windows vista (64 bit) DVD that our teacher put up. The downloader got to 99% after a while, then started to check for CRC's. This stayed like that for a while, then an error message appeared saying "An unknown error has occurred with the downloader" then some other things i can't quite remember (i will try and reproduce it when i get up tomorrow).

I'm just wondering what could be wrong?

Heres the error message I get (let it attempt to download vista overnight)

"An error has occurred.

The delivery client has encountered an error and is unable to continue.
Please review the error and try again.

Error Code: SDC00500
An unknown error has occurred with (then it just stops there)"

And on the bottom, after it goes from downloading, it just gets stuck on "Checking File CRC"

anybody know what could be wrong?

Just did a bit of searching and found an error list for the MSDN downloader:

This is what it says about error code SDC00500

SDC00500 - CRC check failed, the package is corrupt and unusable. Can be caused by:
(a) incomplete transfer
(b) corruption during transfer or
(c) corrupt package on host server

Guess I'll have to contact my teacher about it.
