I have been attempting to add a Seagate 1.5TB SATA HD to my Computer. I currently have a Seagate 320GB SATA HD. I simply connected the second HD. I start up the computer and then attempt to Format the drive with no success. It gets to 73% and then it simply hangs.

If I partition the drive, I can format the first 1TB of space. When I attempt to format the remaining .5TB, I am unable to complete the process.

I have tried disabling the 32mb cache. I have tried resetting the HD speed features. I have even tried using the jumper to slow the HD down to 1.5mb/sec transfer from 3.0mb/sec transfer and the same thing keeps happening. I even went back to got another new 1.5TB HD thinking the first one might be defective. Clearly I am doing something wrong.

The HD came with software and that doesn't work either. Each time I use it, it will hang during the formating process.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.
