I just build my first custom machine and used my old Win XP Media Cent. Ed. (from an old Dell comp) and it installed just fine on my 300gb WD Velociraptor. The XP MedCent. had some problems so I got a firend's Retail XP Home Edition and tried to install that, I get a BSoD during the "SETUP IS STARTING WINDOWS"
The stop code error is 0x00006F and it says: "FAILURE TO INITIALIZE SESSION 3" I did a HDD diagnostic and it came out okay and a memory diag and it came out okay too. I'm thinking it's a software issue.
Any help would be appreciated!
System:
1 IDE CD/DVD Player
1 IDE CD/DVD Burner
1 WD VelRap. 300gb
1 Seagate 500 gb Baracuda
ASRock P43 1600Twins MOBO
XFX 8600 GT
Intel e8400 Stock @ 3.0GHz
Zalman 9500 CPU cooler
might come in useful, i think the gist is try deleting the current partition and create a new partition of type system / extended and definitely not dynamic
also might be worth disconnecting any other drive you have installed until this is sorted.
could be a brilliant time to download the windows 7 beta and give that a shot instead.
