I have a pretty strange problem which I can't seem to correct. Fist of all, here is a bit about my setup (I don't have the model's number and exact info at the moment)

Pentium 4
AMD 64
4 GB of RAM
Windows XP SP2
1 X 30 GB HD
2 X 250 GB HD SATA mounted in raid 0
1 X 500 GB HD SATA

Alright so here's what happened. I used a program named PSP video 9 (which converts mpg, avi, etc into format readable by a PSP) and the computer shut down by itself sometime in the process. When I rebooted, the computer hung on the Windows XP logo (the one with the progress bar). I forced a shut down and rebooted again without problem. I then tried another program to convert my videos into another format for my PSP and the computer shut down again in the process of conversion. Now, both times I wasn't near the computer, so I can't say if there was a blue screen or not. Next time I rebooted, XP hung like before so if shut it down again. I rebooted a second time with no better results. I tried to reboot the computer in Safe Mode, but the computer hung at MUP.SYS and restarted after a minute. There was no way of rebooting either in safe or normal mode. I then used my XP CD to try and get to the recovery console. The CD loads all DLL and right after displaying "Starting Windows" or something, i get a blue screen with the error STOP:0x0000007f and full of zeros after. So I can't even get into the recovery console, can't reinstall windows. I then disconnected everything, took out every hardware possible, tried another video card, tested the memory, switch the memory bars, tried then individually one by one. I found out that when I disconnected my 500 GB SATA HD, all was fine. Now this HD is use for storage of data only, it's not the HD where Windows is installed. Both my other HD (which are SATA and setup in raid 0) works fine.

So I'm wondering what is the problem here. If it is the HD that is somehow corrupted, why would my system hang while booting or running the XP CD ? I don't suppose its the SATA controller, since 2 HD's are connected to it.

I really have no idea why a HD would be responsible for such a problem, does anyone have an explanation ?
