new video card purchase question

Here are my computer specs

cpu amd athlon xp 2600
memory 2 gigs mixed Kingston modules
hd 2 80gig western digital
Video card asus geforce 5700

What would be a good video card upgrade for me (agp)? I was looking at the geforce 6200. Any help would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly the 6200 was really an entry level card and you would probably have to move up to at least a 6600 GT for a noticeable improvement. Another question is it worth upgrading or would you be better off saving enough to put together a new system?

well it depends on your budget
i wouldnt go for anything belove a GF66000 vanilla or a ati x1300pro
if you got something like a 7600Gt i do expect it to be bottlenecked by your CPU, also what is your PSU?

its a 250 watt sparkle power supply. Also im dirt poor saving for college, so the cheaper the better. (but want to play games like fear and prey)

Tom's chart says the 6600 will do prey at 38FPS, the 1300 is 23FPS. They don't list fear on the '06 chart

the GF 6600 Series still isnt that bad. and here is what i have found for around $100, it involves you getting a new PSU because no vga's that a good enough will work on your 250W psu

PSU: SPARKLE ATX-350PN-B204 ATX 12V 2.0 350W $32.49

With shipping it should come around at $100
the GF 6600GT is a good card and is much better than the x1300pro
it is about equal to the X1600pro
