Honestly this chipset (a specific broadcom chipset) is troublesome, all over internet is posts of people *not* getting it to work

What hardware revision is your ae2500? R3 is the only revision supported by native linux drivers. If it is R1 or R2 you must use ndiswrapper+windows driver.
