the screen on my laptop has developed a vertical split which varies in width up to one inch. It appears on owering up and stays throoughot usage and sometimes covers info on the display. Has anyone had this problem and if so how can i get rid of it? Thanks. PS it is not a windows prob i think as it is resent before i have signed in.

If it's present before Windows boots up then it is likely the monitor going out or something is wrong with the internal monitor connection.

Use the Video Out to plug the laptop into another monitor or TV to see if the effect still appears.
