Drivers and Ubuntu

Can you install drivers in Ubuntu?

In my case, I plan on using Ubuntu from day one once my computer is built. Would it be able to install all my hardware drivers?

  1. Usually Ubuntu detects the hardware itself and installs its own drivers. I have never had to install drivers. The problem is, if your hardware is not supported you will be out of luck.
  2. Choose your hardware for Linux, not vice-versa.

Do a simple search: "linux hardware compatibility list."

most of the time your devices are automatically setup without having to manually install any drivers. Some manufacturers do provide linux drivers but there are some devices ie canon printers or scanners that do not work with linux. Good news is you can simply boot off a liveCD and make sure your equipment works before installing.
