Hi guys
I kept the old Sata 2 HD( Segate 7200 rpm, 400GB) with XP and a bunch of programs from old PC.
Old PC setups - Asus K8VSE Del , Athlon 64 3200 Socket 754 ), 1 GB DDR PC 3200, XP SP2 and up to date.

Now I just built a C2D system ( E4300, DS3, 2 GB DDR2 800), no HD and want to use old HD.

Question - Will XP from old PC boot in new PC :?:

If no, Do I need to install SATA 2 drivers (in a Floppy )before reinstalling XP ?
(btw, I had to do that with last PC system, K8VSE didnt have SATA drivers )

I do not believe that you will be able to boot into Windows XP...You see, the drivers from the old system are still installed into the registry etc in windows on that hd...
you should copy all of that data that you want off of the drive (If you can).

A: no...sorry, it doesn't work that easy :(

Rabidbunny is right. Unless the MB chipsets are the same, old to new, you will have to format and reinstall your windows OS. You will not need to use the F6 third party drivers function on a C2D MB.
