Hi,
As of this month I'm switching from Dish, after a one year run, back to T-W
Cable. I'll tell you why. Despite Dish calling Cable the Cable Pig, fact is
I only pay $65 on Cable for expanded cable for 2 TVs, and full digital HDTV
with an HD DVR for the main (3rd) TV. Very reasonable I think. Plus they
threw in Showtime channels for $0.95 a month for six months including 2
Hi-Def Showtime channels.
The Hi-Def picture with Dish was about 10% sharper for sure, but with my
Dish 811 HD receiver, I had to use an S-Video input for non-HD
channels...might be just my 3 year old Mits. TV the way it is, but it was a
nuisance. SD (standard def) channels seen through the digital TV input with
Dish was pretty badly fuzzy!
DirecTV offers local channels in our area, but wants $1000 for a HD digital
video recorder. Plus monthly fees. Whereas T-W offered the DVR at no extra
initial fee, just a monthly DVR fee. Life just isn't the same after a HD
DVR!! I recorded "The Living Sea" narrated by Meryl Streep, from INHD,
converted from IMAX, and it was just awesome. Can't get those two INHD
channels on Dish, only on Cable. We're lucky, we have a very competitive T-W
office in town. I've heard of Cable charges much higher than that.
