Best Distro For NAS/Converting Video?

I am currently building a small rig with one purpose: Act as a NAS with the ability to convert .wtv video. I currently watch and record TV on my main PC, and I would like to have a small computer acting as a NAS to backup all my media and recorded shows. I would also like this computer to use ffmpeg to convert the shows from .wtv to the most future-proof and true-to-source format (mp4?). Which distro is right for me?

Solution
debian or arch would both fill your needs. debian stable probably better for a nas setup.. less updates more stable.

for 'future proof' would recommend using H.264+AAC or AC3 in mkv container.
