I have a simple crossover cable network between 2 comps.
Comp 1 has broadband modem, comp 2 runs through comp 1 to access internet.

Turned on today and comp 1 and 2 can see each other.
Comp1 can access internet.
Comp2 cannot access internet.
Comp 2 can see shared folder but cannot access anything new in shared folder, only stuff put in prior to internet going down.

Tried redoing network wizard, file sharing is on, everything is perfect.

Except it doesn't work properly.

Ditch the crossover cable and get a router. Much easier to maintain and you dont have to have one computer on for internet on the other.

Is simple file sharing off/on on both computers?

file sharing is on on both computers.
This system has worked for a year.
Why should I have to buy a router when this sys worked perfectly ok?

Easier to setup/troubleshoot. Faster speeds. Can run 2nd computer on internet without 1st one being on. You can easily add more computers when needed.

ICS is outdated.

post an ipconfig /all output here from both computers to see what your settings are.

Found the problem. For some reason the second computer which no-one had touched. Suddenly decided to disable access to all progs in the add/remove programs section.
Windows is a pile of cack, bring back the Atari ST.
