Hi,

I am planning to order a Linux system with a Supermicro H8DGi-F, a dual Opteron 6272 (16 cores each), 64GB of RAM, and a GTX 680 graphics card. I noticed that not all Linux distros would work on that system. Whoever has a config with that mb and processors, what linux distro do you have? Could the 32 cores be utilized, and is the system stable?

Thanks
Ahmed

any modern 64bit distrobution should be fine utilizing 32 cores. ubuntu has CONFIG_NR_CPUS set to max of 256, but iirc this can be scaled up to 1000+

A better question is weather your software can utilize that much cpu power...
