We have reported that the future AMD will adjust its brand and products models and currently we got an Athlon 64 X2 BE-2350 processor: 45W Brisbane 2.1GHz.

It is said that AMD will start to announce high-end desktop processor new brand Phenom in a half month. All the K10 processors will base on it: Core quad Agena FX named Phenom FX, Agena named Phenom X4 while dual core Agena named Phenom X2.

AMD said the new processors will make the users experience the Phenomenal just like Athlon XP (eXPerience).

Athlon and Sempron will be only remained in entry segment single core products.

Except the brands the symbol will also has new names and the first two are Brisbane Athlon 64 X2 and Sparta Sempron.

Brisbane dual core series will use 65nm process, clock 1.9-2.3GHz, energy saver power consumption 45W. Take Athlon 64 X2 BE-2350 for example, before it was named Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 45W 1MB L2 Brisbane but in the future we can say it like these:

AMD BE-2400: 45W Brisbane 2.3GHz

AMD BE-2350: 45W Brisbane 2.1GHz

AMD BE-2300: 45W Brisbane 1.9GHz

Single core 65nm Sparta Sempron:

AMD LE-1300: 45W Sparta 2.3GHz

AMD LE-1250: 45W Sparta 2.2GHz

AMD LE-1200: 45W Sparta 2.1GHz

AMD LE-1150: 45W Sparta 2.0GHz

AMD LE-1100: 45W Sparta 1.9GHz

K10 structure Agena, Kuma and Rana names are still unknown but they will be similar with Brisbane and Sparta. We pictured them for you. Lets see them.

brisbane is a waste of time.

Not at all. More CPUs per wafer, better margins, experience with the process before K10. It seems rather integral to me.

For AMD it may not be waste of time but for us consumers it's a total waste of news space. the correct title should be "AMD annouces we're changing our processor model numbers."

BFD.

I'd get the Q6600 in July, but since everyone else seems to be doing it I think I'll pay the premium for Penryn to keep my individuality.

The Q6600 will improve my render times a lot.

I am using and X2 and Opty165 at the moment for rendering. Then in july comes Q6600. 8 cores for max mental ray rendering.
Mental Ray cant take more cores... too bad
