I have been assigned a project in which i have to make a game . i m not that good of a programer . i hardly know some basic stuff about c and c++ . can anyone suggest me some free game engine where i could generate an executable file and extract the source code . i m talking about makin games somewea around igi or counter strike

you could google up free/open source game engines and see which ones are best suited to your needs

Obviously you know best, but do you think you are going to get good marks if you use a pre-built game engine. Sounds to me like it kinda defeats the object of the test.

Well nawab_cindus stated that he doesn't know much programming, so researching the best game engine suited to your needs would probably be the best thing to do as it might be too difficult for you to create your own.

Rather depends upon the purpose of the project. It would seem to me a strange project to ask someone to make a game using a pre-built game engine but then, I don't know the nature of the course that the OP is studying. I guess I'm assuming it's some sort of programming course, which may be a poor assumption.

How would u people suggest me to learn game development then ?? And if possible help me out with shortlisting universities providing masters in game development?
