I have dual boot with Windows 7 Ultimate & Ubuntu Linux. In windows 7, I watch HD Video using Media Player Classic. But in Ubuntu, same hd video doesn't play smoothly.

I don't know how to use my Nvidia Graphics card for hardware decoding in Ubuntu. In VLC the files are plays but quality is not good as Media Player Classic in Windows.

Please tell me how to use Hardware decoding (Cuda or DXVA) in Ubuntu.

Solution
In linux, the hardware decoding on Nvidia cards is called VDPAU.
You need to install the nvidia proprietary driver for it to work.
