I've always only updated the video card drivers.

What OTHER drivers do people update? What's the common list? Thanks!

Go to the online MB product page and update the drivers for your from MB there. ASUS is usually good about providing updated drivers for thier boards.

Badge, so updating everything under the motherboard umbrella will be all I need? I have an ASUS Crosshair on Windows XP.

Also, what's a good way to tell what my current driver version is for a particular piece of hardware? I use the device manager.

Yeah, Device manager has the driver version. Lan, IDE, Chipset, SATA, audio and utilities you use or have installed would be the MB driver updates. ASUS is usually good about providing updated drivers.

Hmm, some of these I don't understand how to install...

If nothing is broke then don't fix it!
If the new driver does not fix a problem you are having or increase speed for your particular hardware then don't update it. New is not always better. Some driver updates only add in support for newer models but do nothing for older ones.
I have seen many times where a driver update broke the system and only a roll back to the previous driver worked.
