so here is the situation: i have like 11 more days before i order my PC, all was fine and i was settled with my specs (with some helps here in the forum). that is until P35 came into the show and now its makin me think twice. its sort of like a must for me to order the PC in this time.

my budget is $800-$1000. but i'm only lookin for 5 components:
1)CPU
2)mobo
3)ram
4)video card
5)hdd

is P35 gonna come around in this time? can anyone give me a rough idea how much its gonna cost and what should i buy?

thnx

(P.S:had this in mind,till P35:
CPU- intel 6420
gpu- foxconn 8800gts (320 mb)
ram-OCZ platinum rev2 2gb (ddr 800/677 or 533??)
hdd-seagate 320gb
mobo-no idea, but preferably an intel chipset
---need some help here if P35 doesn't work out---)

you can already buy the P35 boards from Gigabyte and Asus. The P35-DS3 looks like a nice one (you can buy the C version if you want to upgrade to ddr3 in the future).

As for the RAM I would go for the 800 MHz so you'll be able to overclock the MB and CPU without OC the RAM and they don't cost too much these days.

I prefer the Western Digital WD320AAKS over the Seagate, but that's just me.

What about case and PSU, remeber you will need a good PSU for the 8800...

well I have a p5k asus board with the p35 chipset, I paid a little more for it since I didnt want to wait til june 2nd for them to be available.
I think I paid 178.00$ shipped.

the e6600, p5k, 2 to 4 gigs of your choice of ddr2, 8800gts or gtx, antec trio psu, and i ran a sata 3.0 ata7200.10 400 gig seagate.

the 6600 can reach speeds of the more expensive x6800 and is a good value.

that should run around 1k$ if you price it out at new egg or eBay, depends on the vid card though, the gtx will throw you over a few hundred.

I jjust built a p5k+ x6800+ 4 gigs pc8500 +8800 gtx+xfi extreme gamers sound card+400 gig sata seagate+16 duallayer dvd/rw plextar+antect trio 650+full tower case thermaltake 8000bws, and a zalman 9700 cooler for just under 3k.
take the chip down though to a 6600 and the gtx to a gts, no case, and 2 gigs of memory and you can get that way down.

Newegg isnt going to have them. They arent suppost to be on sale yet.

P5K Deluxe
P35-DQ6

I'm not sure where lumper got his P5K, but he got an insane deal. The P5B Deluxe, a board based on the P965 chipset which has been out for about a year, is $180 at Newegg.

well you can wait til there out and save a little, I paid a premium to get it here weeks before they are in stores.
eBay stores have them new retail box.
Some of the stores that have them online say embargo til 6/2 and wont ship before, but thats coming fast now so.
and thats in your budget overall i believe if you look at the parts list.

you said:
my budget is $800-$1000. but i'm only lookin for 5 components:

1)CPU (e6600 250$)
2)mobo ( 180$)
3)ram ($150 or less for 2 gigs)
4)video card (800gts $300.00)
5)hdd (400 gig sata ata 7200.10 3.o gbps $120.00)

thats $1000.00 exactly

but you do need a good power supply.

personaly I would splurge the extra $200 and get the gtx when your in 1000 whats 1200 to get better video?
but anyway those items fit within your budget and i am sure you can find better deals on th eboard, the memory and maybe even the cpu.

lol you won't make it in time during for you 11 days limit. The drop is coming on July 22nd.
Tiger has had the P35 on sale for at least the last week.

This is the only motherboard I have seen to date that supports DDR3

Anyone know if its backwards compatible with DDR2? What with them only being crossfire ready not SLI ready. Not that this is a problem for me (right now anyways).

I paid 180 not 225$ and you can do bettter in a few days, and yes it offers a lot more over the 650 or the 680i.

the stricker extreme I first considered was going for over $300.00 lol.
I dont mind 150 or so but 300$ is a little out of line.

well in my opinion, if your going to spend the money to do a build, you want to get a solid mobo, and psu, those are critical.

So if you want to save money try to save it on somthing other than the mobo as you will only save 25 to 60$ and then you may end up with a less reliable and less tweakable board.

just my opinion, your foundation is the mobo and psu though, from there chips and cards and dimms are widely intercnahgable in every price range and upgradeable whereas the mobo if your unhappy with it is a bit more involved to replace.

If you have both DDR2 and DDR3 would the DDR3's frequencies and performance be lowered by the limitation of DDR2 kinda like if you put PC2-6400 with PC2-5400?
