Installed ubuntu 12 04 and have allocated only 22 gb of space now i cant update

i have installed ubuntu 11.10 and then it got upgraded to 12.04
i allocated only 22GB of space on one of my partitions whose whole size is 138Gb
now i am facing problems to update through the update manager i keeps showing an error
and i can't even install sykpe or any other software through the software centre nor through the terminal

  1. have you tried a partition manager software to extend the 22GB partition?
  2. Try GParted, it should be installed by default.
