More about when installing ubuntu windows
  1. Because you are installing in virtualbox...
  2. When installing on vmware you created a virtual hard drive. You are fooling the system that you are installing into believing there is a hard drive all to itself even though the imaginary one (virtual) resides on a physical one. When the installer asks do you want to format the entire drive it is referring to the virtual one, go right ahead.
