System will post, I get to windows xp loading screen then system shuts off and then tries powering back up but shuts down again over and over.System won't stay up long enough to get into bios to do much of anything. Have cleared cmos, replaced psu, running out of ideas. Bad mobo?

is this an existing XP install carried over from a previous system?
if so you need to do ideally a clean install or at least a repair install - you can't just swap over due to the HAL.

This is a clean install. I've gotten into bios but after 5 minutes just sitting idle on any screen, system will power off. My cpu temp reaches 46degree C at idle, case open. Is this to high?

CPU @ 46C shouldn't cause it to power off.
the system is doing a controlled shutdown rather than a BSOD etc.?

What BIOS rev are you on & what PSUs have you tried?
Also what voltage is your RAM @?

Computer shuts down like flipping a switch, but immediately powers back up - runs a bit then shuts down over and over. Bios is latest release 1.7.
2.0v on RAM.

Removed everything from case and assembled, still same problem. Removed vid card, ram, moved ram to different channels, testing psu now on good computer, switched mobo,. Anyway looks like my low hour 6400 core 2 duo may be the problem. If you can think of anything else let me know. Thanks.

p.s. When it shuts off, standby light stays lit on mobo.
