I was recently using my laptop when it suddenly stopped working. I tried to reformat by using the windows disk to boot from, but my computer has had a history of a crappy dvd drive and it wouldn't work. It seems the only way i can reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows is by booting from a USB hard drive. I have searched online and found a few guides, but nothing that i can really follow that well. If any of you guys know how to do it i would really, really appreciate any help. You guys helped me a lot when I was building my PC, and i need your help again. Thanks in advance for any help.

Trying to install xp from usb hard drive is hard for simple users.
Why dont you try to buy a dvd-rw drive and an usb adaptor for it sata or pata. You will them everywhere and they are cheap. If you laptop can boot from usb you can use it and you will have the dvd drive for the later installations from your windows eg.
games and so on.
