hello,
i am trying to install Ubuntu 12 in to my desktop and once i insert the dvd in to my Rom the dvd rom reads the disk but then it says NO LIVE MEDIA FOUND i tried the same in my laptop it works perfectly....is there any problem in my DVD ROM > can any one help me with this??
Hi, I'm not an expert with hardware, but this is what I see that could be wrong:
1. Your DVD drive is playing up (very unlikely, because your computer tried to read the disk)
2. Your DVD was not burnt correctly (likely)
3. Your Ubuntu 12 download was corrupted (not very likely)
Let's check each possibility:
1. Try inserting a different disk into the drive e.g. music or a movie. See if that works. If so, it's the disk:
2. I'd recommend re-burning the DVD. Search for a checkbox called 'Verify disk' and check that. It'll be slower but it should also make sure it's not the disk that's the problem. If it still doesn't work:
3. Re-download Ubuntu 12. There's a small chance the ISO got corrupted, especially if you torrented it.
Personally, I recommend you put Ubuntu 12 on a USB and install it that way. It's a lot quicker! But doing so requires a newer computer that supports recognising USBs as HDDs.
