Hello,

I took the drive from an unbootable 98SE computer that had been using Outlook Express for email. That computer is gone. I want to get the email files off of that drive, burn them to a CD and then copy them to a new computer running XP so that the new computer can access the email saved in the old drive.

As the old drive is not bootable, I have it kinda hanging from another computer so I can access the drive as drive F and copy files from it. Which files do I need to copy and then copy to the new computer? Thank you for any help you can give.

Search for files that end with a .dbx extension.

In win98 you will find your emails in folder
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\(...Identity number...)\microsoft\Outlook Express

The directory is hidden make sure you see them in folders settings.

just copy paste them or import them in the new oe6

xp directory
C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\(your user name)\Application Data\Identities\(...Identity number...)\microsoft\Outlook Express
Be carefull if you overwrite the files..If you have new mails you will properbly loose them.
Use with the import suggestion.
