hi guys,

Recently installed vista 64bit and have been having issues with every type of burning software I have tried.

Nero, Image burn and Even windows naitive.

Basically everything gets to 5% ish and the system freezes, BSOD then reboots.
I have tried different files everytime.

Luckily I have a dual boot with xp and no problems in xp, burns fine.

All latest drivers etc,

Dvd drive is Samsung 20xDVD -/+R/RW Dual Layer OEM Black (SH-S202J/RSBN)
I also have Samsung SH-D162C PC DVD drive

Under disk management there are no conflicts, device manager same deal. this annoyes the hell out of me.

hope you can help cheers guys.

Might be power supply wimping out when DVD goes on full load. You have to make sure that the DVD drive is also Vista compliant.

I would highly suspect a bad DVDRW, if all your burning programs stop at the same point, but since it works in XP, have you checked for a firmware update for it?

How is the DVDRW connected IDE or SATA?

How much system memory are you running?

Do you really need the DVDROM drive?

Are you OCing the machine?

Listing your specs would help, helping you?

A few possibilities.

Have you tried various burn speeds?

Even if you burn at slower burn speeds does it still quit?

UDMA is active for the drive right?

What brand media are you writing?

Have you looked at the Samsung burn report, probably on the C:\ drive somewhere and see what errors are listed?

slowest speed possible, still locks up.
tried a few brands, again works fine wth xp.
UDMA should be on, I havent disabled it.
cant find a log :(
