Ok, so I built a new computer Friday, got it all up and running, installed windows xp, updated it, etc, got some games going on it, yadda yadda, however, it started freezing whenever I try to install anything. There's not really a rhyme or reason to it.
It started when I tried to install Far Cry 2 with Daemon tools, I figured they were just corrupt and ignored it. Got Oblivion installed from the original discs just fine. Later got Far Cry to work. Then I tried installing Fallout 3 with Daemon tools from an ISO and it froze.
I tried to install drivers for my D-Link wireless card from my external hard drive and it freezes in the middle of installation.
So it obviously can't be my DVD drive, etc, cuz I can play games and do other stuff all day on it (which I pretty much did, lol), but now when I try to install things it locks up. It has to be completely reset, CTRL ALT DEL get's nothing, etc.
The progress also changes, it doesn't always lock in the same place.
