I'm new to overclocking, I am building a new QX6700 system and my current system is a AMD 4600/A8N32-SLI-Deluxe (939) 2-gig kingston ram/ 2x 8800 SLI/ 2x raptor drives Raid0. I would like to keep this rig intact minus the video cards for my new system. Is this a good overclockable CPU (4600+ 939). What are some good #'s to keep the CPU stable at 2.8 ghz? Thanks guys?

The 939 X2's are overclockable, but a 300 mhz. or slighly better o'c is more realistic. Reaching a stable 2.8 GHZ with your processor is extreme in my experience with the X2's. You can get a 600 mhz. o'c like you are asking out of a C2D, but your asking a lot out of your 4600 X2.

Is'nt the stock speed of a x2 4600 2.6ghz?

2.4 is stock speed. 2.6 is usually no problem, 2.8 means very good cooling and some extra voltage (2.6 might need a bit extra voltage also)

you must set your ddr400 at ddr333 speed and slowly raise the fsb. keep testing with benchmarks to find if it is stable and take the small next step. when it becomes unstable (and it can`t go higher with even 0.2v extra vcore) then take a step back to the point where it was stable.

always keep an eye on your temps!!
