I’m about to buy myself a new system. I don’t have much money so I have tried to squeeze out as much value for my pennies as possible. The thing is that I’m not a pro when it comes to computer components so I would really apriciate some advice on the parts I have decieded upon. My wish is to be able to overclock the system somewhat.

This is what I have decided upon this far:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHz

TwinMOS DDR2 PC6400 2048MB Dual Pack KIT w/two matched DDR2 PC6400 1024MB CL5

(this memory is very cheap so I wonder if it is possible to use if I go for OC the system?)

Tuniq Tower 120 Ultra Silent CPU-Kylare, Socket 478/775/754/939/940

Zalman Super Thermal Grease bottle+brush

Asus Extreme GeForce 8800GTS 320MB DDR3 TV-out HDTV DUAL DVI SLI-ready RETAIL PCI Express

Gigabyte GA-965P-S3, P965, Socket-775, ATX, SATAII, GbLAN, DDR2, 1xPCI-Ex16

Cooltek 600W Modular ATX 2.2

Digital Caviar WD2500KS 250GB 7200rpm 16MB SATA2

Your budget is tight. You might want a Fortron/Hiper psu that's 500w 30a or better.

But is that enough power if I am to overclock the system, and doesn't the graphic card require much power too?

The cooltek PSU gives, to my knowledge, 600w up to 41A which should be enough?

I'm on a budget, but I decided to put some more money on the PSU - I have had to many problems in the past with earlier computers (back in the days I didn't understand the importance of the PSU at all).

On paper it is enough. Quantity != quality. It won't last very long.

Do you know this by experience? Or perhaps you can refer to a source that can backup your statement?

Sorry you're right. The Cooktek CT is a good one.
