I have a wired network in my home. I'm getting my wife a notebook computer and she wants it wireless, and need to know what I'll need to connect it to the network. My connection is IFITL, so my broadband router just plugs into the jack, I have no modem. Can I just plug a wireless router into my broadband router or is there more to it than that?
You can hardwire the laptop using its LAN port as long as you have a free port on the router. If she wants to connect wirelessly, you'll need to get a wireless Router if your's isn't but you can still hardwire you computer to it and the modem would connect to the router like it does now. I'm using a ZyXEL x-550 and really like it but Bufflalo, Netgear, Linksys, and D Link make good routers. I'd stick with b/g rather than n right now given they're still working on the n standard
