What monitor and resolution are you playing at?

If you have something like a 22" running at over 1600x1200, then you can justify getting another card, otherwise, stick to one.

That's a pretty good setup all ready. I'm sure you can bring your frames up a bit with a second card, but if I were you I would save my $ for nest gen cards as that card should perform great at that res (especially if it's OC'ed). I have a gts320 and play @ 1600x1200 and I so notice slowdowns in spots here and there in games I play but they are few and acceptable. 1680x1050 is mathmatically a lower res and the card you have should really do all you need. I have a very similar sytem. e6600@2.925, 2gb ram, raptor, gts320. So like I said I might considering waiting. However, it is only money and you can't take it with you. So, if you want it bad it will improve performance in choppy areas if you are experiencing any now.

You do realize the 975X chipset does not natively support SLI right??? This is a BIG problem with your plan. Also your 500W PSU might be OK, are you OCing? Even if it is enough, you'll be pushing it pretty hard, and you'd be best served by upgrading it.
